Goodbye Gravity Campaign
for ADIDAS

The 80s are back in this brightly colored spot for Adidas and Champs Sports.

CLIENT: ADIDAS & CHAMPS SPORTS

9iFX was brought in by the creative team at DotDotDash to deliver a ton of compositing/matte painting and 2D effects on a tight time table. Say goodbye to gravity in this campaign, consisting of a hero spot and two supporting shorts.

CONCEPT

The campaign’s main protagonists find themselves transported into a digital world, where the rules of physics as we know them no longer apply. This creative concept was born out of a desire to capture the essence of the 80s, while at the same time exploring the limitless possibilities that exist in the digital realm.

PROCESS

9iFX was brought in as additional help to deliver a complicated onslaught of composited images and 2D laser-like effects, processing more than 50 shots in a 2 week period in order to meet a really tight deadline. A lot of long days and late nights went into making this campaign happen.

CONCLUSION

The campaign consisted of two shorter vignettes and a longer hero spot. It was featured as a broadcast spot, as well as digitally displayed in Adidas stores across the country. We happened to capture some footage of our effects at the flagship store in Manhattan shortly after this campaign was released!

BEHIND THE SCREENS

Here is a look behind the scenes at what went into capturing the live footage for this spot. 9iFX was excited to help create this punchy representation of the digital world and then place this dynamic duo in it.

Caught in the wild, this piece was used for digital display purposes at the flagship Adidas store in Time Square, both inside the store, and outside on the large screens.
